Grifco was founded by Claire Griffin on 1st May 2002. It is a creative, boutique, PR company which nurtures the needs of its travel, spa and beauty clients.
The Grifco PR press office teams work very closely with clients, tailoring each campaign, to the point that they often start to see us as an “in-house” resource rather than agency. A personal, trusting working relationship is forged to maximise opportunities and to ensure that the best communication channels between client and PR is achieved.
The company has a well educated, friendly team who pride themselves in obtaining the best possible results for clients. Grifco PR has its own specialist database with many thousands of personal media contacts.
Claire Griffin has a degree in Law and American Studies from Middlesex University, London. Her first job was in journalism working on The Chester Chronicle & Evening Leader, before entering the world of public relations in 1990. Her first PR role was at one of the UK’s biggest PR agencies called the Grayling Company. For over 3 years she worked on big brand accounts including Mars. This was followed by 4 years as an Account Director at Barclay Stratton PR working on travel clients such as Jamaica Tourist Board and Oasis Forest Holiday Villages.
After 4 years at Barclay Stratton, Claire left the UK to follow an opportunity to work in Sydney, Australia as Communications Director for one of Australia’s leading law firms, Allen’s. She returned to the UK in 1998 to run and develop Columbus Communications, sister company to ZFL (now named PRCO). Claire was charged to grow Columbus’ business, which she did, and ran the PR agency as Account Director for just under 5 years. The accounts she looked after included: Four Seasons Hotels Worldwide, Mediterranean Experience, Cap Juluca in Anguilla, Rome Cavalieri Hilton, 51 Buckingham Gate, London and Dolce Vita Villas in Italy.
Since May 2002 Claire has worked consistently to build and grow Grifco which now has some of the top travel, spa and beauty clients in the world.
John has worked as Finance Director for Grifco from inception and in addition to providing general assistance to the office, John undertakes all company financial functions. John is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Jo Cadbury worked with Claire Griffin at PRCO and moved to Grifco in 2004. Jo is a PR consultant at Grifco, working across clients and supporting the teams in many elements of the PR business. From writing press releases, drafting invitations and overseeing events, her attention to detail is second to none!
Joanna Cadbury is one of the most knowledgeable and highly regarded travel and spa PR specialists in the business.
Charlotte grew up in Palo Alto, California, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism and English from Boston University in Massachusetts in 2007. Charlotte has a wide variety of journalism and digital media experience, working in the USA at companies like CNN, Frontline, Boston.com for the Boston Globe newspaper, and iProspect, a SEO agency where Charlotte became Google Adwords Certified.
As an Associate Director, Charlotte works across a variety of accounts at Grifco PR executing smoothly run and effective PR campaigns for her clients. Charlotte has excellent contacts in the UK media and has arranged and escorted media worldwide. She has worked on a variety of PR campaigns, which include launching Andaz Tokyo in Japan, opening a sensory installation with Veuve Clicquot in East London and launching Wilderness Collection's Segera Retreat in Kenya. Charlotte advises her clients on all aspects of PR campaigns to ensure goals are met.
Nadia joined Grifco in October 2012. She graduated from the University of Leeds with a 2:1 in French and Spanish. Before joining Grifco as an Account Executive, Nadia worked for nearly three years at a Lifestyle PR agency, working with restaurant and bar clients, as well as travel, events and TV.
Nadia is a keen traveller and took a year out either side of university working in retail in Thailand, as well as exploring various parts of the world including Europe, South and Central America, and South East Asia. To accommodate her love for travelling and communicating, and to utilise her language skills, Nadia is well equipped in all areas to handle the requirements of being a luxury travel PR. Her artistic flair provides her with creative PR skills and a genuine passion for beautiful hotels, exciting new destinations, and wonderful spa products.
At Grifco Nadia deals with day to day press activity including press requests, social media updates, monitoring media coverage, and press pitching. Nadia is always on the look out for new opportunities to promote her clients.
Flora joined Grifco in February 2015 bringing a little over two year's luxury travel experience to the team. Before joining Grifco Flora worked at a luxury lifestyle PR agency where she gained in-depth knowledge of the industry working across a number of travel clients, including The Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square and one of the world's largest hotel companies, Meliá Hotels International.
Flora graduated from Edinburgh University in 2012 with a 2:1 Philosophy and Theology MA (Hons). Flora is a keen traveller and spent the long university summers visiting various parts of the world including Kenya and South East Asia. More recently Flora has enjoyed exploring Europe, with recent trips to Slovenia and Italy being high-up on her list of travel highlights.
Flora has worked on a variety of PR campaigns including high profile hotel launches both in London and abroad. As Account Manager at Grifco she works on client management overseeing smooth and effective execution of PR campaigns, the creation and implementation of PR strategies and day-to-day press activity. Flora has strong relationships with UK journalists across travel, food and beverage, design and lifestyle and has organised and escorted a number of high calibre press trips to locations worldwide. Flora loves to be creative and is always on the lookout for new ways in which to promote her clients.
Emma joined Grifco in September 2015 as an Account Manager. She graduated from the University of Leeds with a 2.1 degree in Theology, before embarking on a career in PR, spending the past three years specialising in luxury travel and building strong relationships within the industry. Emma is adept at creating strategic campaigns for clients and her experience includes executing high-profile press trips, launches and events for One&Only Resorts and Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, as well as promoting the Singapore, Miami and Emilia Romagna tourist boards. To enhance her skill set, Emma has completed Chartered Institute of Marketing training and has extensive experience in handling social media strategy and implementation for clients.
With her wanderlust leading her to far flung corners of the world; from Mexico to Miami, Fiji, the Maldives, South Africa, Thailand, as well as living in Australia whilst coaching netball, a career in travel PR was a natural step. Emma combines her love of travel with an interest in the arts, with experience working in Special Events at Sotheby's and weekends spent visiting galleries and exhibitions around London, stopping to sample copious restaurants and food markets along the way!
At Grifco, Emma works across a diverse range of accounts including Bespoke Hotels, SEVERIN*S - The Alpine Retreat, Dorsett Hotels & Resorts, Yellow Zebra Safaris, Edge Retreats, Rome Cavalieri and Jean-Michel Gathy. Emma thrives on achieving results for her clients through strategic and creative media relations and is constantly seeking ideas and angles to set her clients apart from the rest; be it through editorial, broadcast or social media opportunities.
With incurable wanderlust and ingrained curiosity, Emily’s desire to explore the world developed from an early age. Influenced by extensive cultural explorations of Italy, Emily graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in History of Art and Italian. Following a brief dalliance with the Contemporary Art world, Emily returned to her true passion in life: travel. Spending three years working for a global online travel resource, Emily produced a deluge of editorial features, blog posts and online content about globetrotting adventures. Emily puts her New Media and editorial strategy skills to good use, creating and implementing strategic creative campaigns as well as arranging press trips and securing top tier editorial leads for her clients at GRIFCO.
Clare graduated from the University of Leeds with a 2:1 in English Language in 2010 before going on to cut her teeth in the world of journalism. She spent three years as a news reporter for various local London newspapers, including the Richmond & Twickenham Times. Clare’s wanderlust and love of travel then kicked in and she moved to Beijing, where she worked for two years as an editor and journalist for China Daily.
Growing up in Hong Kong and Singapore, Clare was fortunate to travel widely throughout Asia and developed a genuine passion for exploring new destinations. Always up for a challenge, Clare has hitchhiked from Leeds to Morocco for charity, cycled from London to Paris and led dives in Egypt’s Red Sea as a PADI Divemaster. On her return to the UK Clare decided to change course and pursue her passion for travel as a career, which led her to GRIFCO. At GRIFCO Clare writes press releases, handles social media, monitors press coverage and handles individual press requests and journalist enquiries.
Cecile joined Grifco PR after graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2014 with a 2:1 in American and Canadian Literature, History and Culture. Since graduating university, Cecile had a brief dabble in the fashion world, however, has since turned her sights to another love of hers: travel. As a keen traveller, Cecile has spent her summers during university visiting different parts of the world with a long summer inter-railing across Europe. At GRIFCO Cecile supports her team by dealing with individual press requests, drafting press releases, monitoring and recording press coverage, answering journalist enquiries and keeping social media updated.
Having graduated with a a 2:1 in French Studies from The University of Sheffield in 2015, Anna jumped straight into the world of Travel PR. During this time, she has assisted in raising the profile for a variety of clients from tourist boards and boutique hotels to hospitality management groups. Anna’s love for travel stems from her time spent travelling around Latin America and having spent a year abroad in Paris as part of her degree. At Grifco, Anna works on Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, La Maison d'Ulysse, Ikos Resorts, Conrad Maldives and ECT Travel.
Lara graduated from the University of Sussex with a 2:1 in English Literature in 2014, going on to complete an MA in Shakespeare Studies at King’s College London whilst working at Shakespeare's Globe theatre. After a brief spree in the arts world, Lara returned to PR having enjoyed a stint volunteering as Head of PR and events at the university radio station. She also worked for a start-up app, building their communications and engagement strategy, and interned for a consumer and B2B PR agency. In 2015, Lara joined GRIFCO PR after deciding to combine her experience and love for the PR world with her passion for travelling.
Lara has been a keen traveller since childhood enjoying trips across India, Nepal, Europe and Africa. In her spare time, Lara loves running, writing, and searching out new places to explore - whether that be in London or the rest of the world. Her role at Grifco is to handle day to day press activity including press requests, social media updates, monitoring media coverage, and press pitching.
Marielle graduated from the University of Leeds in 2015, with a first class degree in French and Politics. She spent a year living in Paris as part of her studies, sparking both a love for travel and an obsession with French patisserie!
She began her career in public relations at a corporate agency, where she worked on various F&D, public sector and technology accounts. She made the decision to move into luxury travel PR in order to combine her passion for public relations and language skills with her love of travel.
In her role as an Account Executive at Grifco, she handles day to day press activity including press requests, social media updates, monitoring media coverage and press pitching. She works on a number of accounts including Mirihi Island Maldives, Bramble Ski & Haute Montagne, Jade Mountain St. Lucia and the Italian Hospitality Collection.
Outside of work, Marielle enjoys going to the theatre, running, reading and baking.
Tamsin is a graduate of Oxford Brookes, with a First Class Honours in International Hospitality Management. Having grown up in Singapore and later, Cornwall, she has a lifelong passion for all things travel and tourism. She also enjoys cooking a range of foreign cuisines to the sound of classic rock or smooth soul.
Since graduating Tamsin has pursued her love for travel by bungee jumping, mountain biking, canyoning, diving and motorbiking her way around South America and South East Asia. On her return, she gained a marketing role at a luxury jewellers, where she created seasonal campaigns, exciting content for blog posts and increased online sales. Her move to Grifco however, offers her the opportunity to combine a career in PR with her love of travel.
